My Margarita Recipe

We brought margarita mix from San Antonio, but eventually ran out.

It cost too much to ship it to Mass, so I came up with this.  It was

developed with cheap tequila.  If you want to use premium tequila,

use less sugar.  But why waste really good tequila by combining it

with a mix?

This is a good general purpose drink for a crowd, or for a casual

margarita.

Here is the recipe.

The bottle on the left is actually Citric Acid solution, and can be ordered from the

web site shown on the bottle.  You could also make your own Citric Acid solution

by mixing equal parts by volume Citric Acid granules and water.

Here are the ingredients used to make the Margarita Mix Concentrate.

After mixing 2 parts each of Margarita Mix concentrate, Water, tequila

and 1 part Triple Sec, pour over ice.

As we have grown older, we tend to use less sugar.  Typically 5/8 - 3/4 cup

rather than one cup.

This mix is rather light and does not overpower the tequila flavor.  The harsh

tequila cuts through the flavor of the mix and people associate that taste with

a strong drink.  Actually it is not stronger than a glass of wine.
